Why one screenshot of ChatGPT proves nothing
One screenshot of an AI answer is one sample from a system that varies on four axes at once. It can’t prove you’re visible, and it can’t prove you’re not.
The four variables in every answer
Every AI answer is the product of one phrasing, one day, one location, and one conversation. Change any of the four and the named businesses can change. A screenshot freezes a single combination, which makes it a data point inside a sample, never a verdict on your visibility.
The demonstration
What a screenshot is good for
A dated data point inside a designed sample. Ten of them, collected the way our methodology collects them, start to mean something. Thirty of them over a month mean more. One of them means you asked once.
The sales tactic to recognize
Someone shows an owner a single answer where their business is missing, and the pitch writes itself. The screenshot might even be representative, but one answer can’t establish that, and a seller who knew the fuller picture would show it. It cuts the other way too: showing up once is not visibility either, and celebrating one good answer is the same mistake wearing a smile. Our opinion, kept as short as this post: any conclusion, good or bad, drawn from one screenshot tells you about the person concluding, not about your visibility.
